WE ARE CHRIST'S FRAGRANCE...

The Bible says we are the aroma (fragrance) of Christ. Let's spread that fragrance around!

2 Corinthians 2:15, : For we are to God the aroma of Christ, among those who are being saved and those who are perishing.

Angels...

Psalm 91: 11 "For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways;"
Hi....
The above scripture has always blessed me & sat down with my study Bible to learn a bit more on Angels & this is what I ended up writing in my journal long back back.
Angels are God's messengers, spiritual beings CREATED BY GOD & NOT TO BE WORSHIPED.
When ever I read this above scripture I find comfort at the thought that one of the function of angels is to guard us believers.
They are sent to minister to us.
Hebrews 1:14 "Are not all angels ministering spirits sent to serve those who will inherit salvation?"
There are angels assigned to watch over little children.
Matthew 18: 10 "See that you do not look down on one of these little ones. For I tell you that their angels in heaven always see the face of my Father in heaven."
And these angels always watch the Father's face. So we need to value our kids, each of them are special in God's eyes.
Let kids not be aborted or ignored.
God cares for a child, right when it's formed in it's mothers womb.
Angels proclaim God's message.
MATTHEW 2:13 "When they had gone, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream. "Get up," he said, "take the child and his mother and escape to Egypt. Stay there until I tell you, for Herod is going to search for the child to kill him."
ACTS 27: 23 "Last night an angel of the God whose I am and whom I serve stood beside me. 24 and said, 'Do not be afraid, Paul. You must stand trial before Caesar; and God has graciously given you the lives of all who sail with you."
They execute God's judgment.
ACTS 12:23 "Immediately, because Herod did not give praise to God, an angel of the Lord struck him down, and he was eaten by worms and died"
This happened in the New Testament Days during the time of the early church.
Angels help God's people.
ACTS 5:19 "But during the night an angel of the Lord opened the doors of the jail and brought them out."
They'll instruct God's people.
ACTS 8:26 "Now an angel of the Lord said to Philip, "Go south to the road—the desert road—that goes down from Jerusalem to Gaza."
They were seen in visions and dreams.
ACTS 10: 3 "One day at about three in the afternoon he had a vision. He distinctly saw an angel of God, who came to him and said, "Cornelius!".
Angels are sent to rescue God's people.
ACTS 12:7 "Suddenly an angel of the Lord appeared and a light shone in the cell. He struck Peter on the side and woke him up. "Quick, get up!" he said, and the chains fell off Peter's wrists."
So we see that Angels are created heavenly beings with supernatural powers.
THEY ARE NOT TO BE WORSHIPED AS THEY ARE GOD'S SERVANTS..(THEY SERVE GOD LIKE US!)
Angels are not always visible but on some occasions they are.
The truths of the BIBLE do not change.
OUR GOD IS THE SAME YESTERDAY, TODAY AND FOR EVER.
LUKE 2: 9 "An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified."
NUMBERS 22: 31 :Then the LORD opened Balaam's eyes, and he saw the angel of the LORD standing in the road with his sword drawn. So he bowed low and fell face down."
If in the Old and New testament days, God sent these ministering angels to minister, to watch, to proclaim HIS news,  to execute judgment, to help and rescue HIS children, to instruct His children, won't they be sent even today to do these jobs?
Just the thought that God's assigned angels to guard our ways and bear us in their hands should comfort us.
PSALM 91:

11 For he will command his angels concerning you

       to guard you in all your ways;

12 they will lift you up in their hands,

so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.
In 1 kings we read how God sent an angel to feed Elijah.

1 KINGS 19:5 Then he lay down under the tree and fell asleep.

All at once an angel touched him and said, "Get up and eat." 6 He looked around, and there by his head was a cake of bread baked over hot coals, and a jar of water. He ate and drank and then lay down again.

7 The angel of the LORD came back a second time and touched him and said, "Get up and eat, for the journey is too much for you." 8 So he got up and ate and drank. Strengthened by that food, he traveled forty days and forty nights until he reached Horeb, the mountain of God.

By this food Elijah was strengthened to travel a distance of about 200 miles. He traveled without food for the next 40 days.

In the Book of Daniel God sent an Angel to shut the Lions mouths.
DANIEL 6:22 My God sent his angel, and he shut the mouths of the lions. They have not hurt me, because I was found innocent in his sight. Nor have I ever done any wrong before you, O king."
Today too if God wants God can send HIS angels to minister to us!

In Jason Upton's Album "REMEMBER" there's a song called "FLY". In this song we can hear some angelic voice sing with him. This is what Jason says about this song...
There is no explanation for the last song, Fly, except  that during the "do you see what I see" portion you will hear a soaring voice over the top of the other voices (6 minutes and 11 seconds into this section). At first we thought it was an ambient microphone picking up an overtone. During mixing all of the channels were searched and we found that this 'boys choir' type voice was  not on any of the other microphones, but was bleeding through my own microphone ( which would make it impossible for it to be an overtone because it was not present on any of the other  microphones). If you listen carefully you will hear it again later in this section; it's not quite as clear because, unfortunately, my voice is prominent on that microphone. Interestingly, a boy came up to me that night and told me that he saw  an angel standing about fifteen feet behind me.and another one behind our drummer. At the time I doubted that; but after hearing the 'voice' alone during the mixing process with no other instruments around it, I do not doubt it anymore. It was very humbling and convicting for me to realize that I had not believed the boy. I sometimes wrestle with why I so often disbelieve the supernatural (why would I first think it was something natural like an overtone, instead of believing it was an angel). The Bible tells us that we should not be surprised by angelic visitations; but I must admit, I was surprised!

Live life to the fullest!

Hi...
Everyday we find there are so many jobs to do. No matter who we are, a professional, home maker, student, the chores seem endless.
But in midst of all the running around, we need to stop everything once in a while, sit back, deep breathe & just do something to relax ourselves.
Even if we are at work in office we can stop a while to feel refreshed. May be we can just sit or just stretch ourselves a bit, or sit back & sip a hot cup of coffee.
You can listen to some good music or just close your eyes a while.
If you have a lovely view outside your window, sit by a while & look at the flowers, birds, enjoy the beauty around you, watch the kids laugh & play.
Relaxing a bit sure helps to ease the work pressure & helps you get back to work with fresh energy.
Life is God's gift to us..
Let's not get too tied up or busy with life that we fail to stop by & enjoy the pure joyful moments that pass our way.
I want to cherish the moments of the remaining part of my life. Amidst my work at home &doing the things of the Kingdom...

I'd like to relax, visit a family member I did not see for a long time, walk barefoot in the grass, chase a butterfly (tried that? did it as a child),have carefree moments, sing for joy, watch a comedy show with  kids and my list goes on.....

I also like sitting by the sea, watching the waves break of the shore, watch the sun set, would like to watch the leaves sway in the breeze, listen to the birds sing, admire the beauty of the flowers and enjoy it's fragrance..
.
WOW let's take time to enjoy the beauty of God's creation, Let's thank Our Abba Father for it all!
Life is precious & so... short, let's take time off our busy schedule to relax a bit & be refreshed.
Do take time to enjoy God's gift of time once in a while or you'll just miss the joy it brings.
Have a beautiful day.
May this day be filled with the little things that bring joy to our lives .

Lying is a sin too...!

Hi...
In Colossians 3 God asks us to put to death whatever belongs to our earthly nature.
Colo 3:5-9," 5Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry. 6Because of these, the wrath of God is coming. 7You used to walk in these ways, in the life you once lived. 8But now you must rid yourselves of all such things as these: anger, rage, malice, slander, and filthy language from your lips. 9Do not lie to each other, since you have taken off your old self with its practices."

Here we read we are not to "Lie" to each other.
"Lying" is a conscious attempt to deceive.
"Lying" destroys trust....
            ~~tears down relationships,
            ~~leads to serious conflicts &
            ~~multiplies the problems.
We "Lie" and " bear false Witness" even when we tell...
           ~~The half truth..
           ~~Leave part of the story..
           ~~Twisting the facts..
           ~~Inventing a story..
           ~~Making false statements etc
In this world people make "Lying" and deceiving their way of life but we in the "Body of Christ" need to know Our God does not like "Lies" because Satan is the father of all liars..
John 8:44,"You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father's desire. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies."
We need to be careful of Satan, he tries to cause division in the Body od Christ & obstructs God's work by using God's people to "lie" & "distort the truth".
"Liars" will not inherit God's kingdom.
Rev 21:8 " But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters and all liars—their place will be in the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death."
But Praise God, Our God forgives us when we go to Him for forgiveness.
If we confess the lies we said knowingly or unknowingly or have shared with someone something we heard about someone, without finding out the whole truth, our God is willing to forgive us & help us walk in truth.
Father God help us to speak the truth at all times and forgive us for the times we sin against you by lying...
In Jesus Name,
Amen

Candles!!

"Shine out among them like beacon lights,
holding out to them the Word of Life."
Philippians 2:15,16
" After the darkness, the daylight shines through. After the showers, the rainbow's in view. After life's heartaches, there comes from above. The peace and the comfort of God's healing Love."

Matthew 5:16, "In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven."
If we belong to CHRIST, His light & Glory will shine through us, showing others who our Savior & Lord is!

Quit Smoking

Hi...
Greetings from India.
This is a long mail but even if one soul is blessed..PRAISE GOD!! the effort is not in vain.
...
I am really burdened to see so many men & women struggling to give up smoking. Pray this will help somebody out there.

Remember:
Nicotine is A Powerful Addiction & Quitting takes hard work and a lot of effort, but you can quit smoking.
If you have tried to quit smoking, you know how hard it can be. It is hard because nicotine is a very addictive drug. For some people, it can be as addictive as heroin or cocaine.
Quitting is hard but not impossible. Usually people make 2 or 3 tries, or more, before finally being able to quit. Each time you try to quit, you can learn about what helps and what hurts.

Smoking affects ones health. The manufacture themselves have to carry that warning on every pack..' smoking is injurious to health.'
A friend wrote this following:

'Healing belongs to you'

"What many of us do not realise is that the same blood that washes away our sins also brings about healing from sickness, disease and every oppression of the enemy. Consider it a complete package. The following teachings on healing are divided into short 'capsule size' articles.
Take one each day. Read them, study them and meditate on the them daily and you will soon see the life of Christ establishing healing in your body. "

Let's see what the Bible says...that may help you in breaking this habit.

1 Cor 6:19-20,1"Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body."
3 John 2, .."I pray that you may enjoy good health..."
1 COR 7:23,"You were bought at a price; do not become slaves of men."(or slaves to anything!)
We were washed with the Blood of Jesus!
1 PETER 1:19,"but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect."
ROMANS 6:16,"Don't you know that when you offer yourselves to someone to obey him as slaves, you are slaves to the one whom you obey—whether you are slaves to sin, which leads to death, or to obedience, which leads to righteousness?"
ROMANS 8:9-11," You, however, are controlled not by the sinful nature but by the Spirit, if the Spirit of God lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Christ. 10But if Christ is in you, your body is dead because of sin, yet your spirit is alive because of righteousness. 11And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit, who lives in you."

ROMANS 8:14,"Because those who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God."
You see God's so..concerned about out physical health. Would it please HIM if you defiled HIS temple by inhaling something the doctors themselves say "Injurious to health."?
Think about it...
Today renew your pledge to quit smoking. If you have tried to quit smoking and failed before, take comfort in the fact that most smokers fail several times before quitting successfully.
Your past failures are not a lesson that you are unable to quit. Instead, view them as part of the normal journey toward becoming a nonsmoker
.

Here are 12 techniques that will help you quit the habit.
These techniques compiled from the net..:)
Remember - you can do it!
PRAYER: The Single Most Powerful And Important Technique.
Pray & ask God to help you.
But He'll only help when we accept you have a problem with this addiction & come before Him. He will set you free when your heart is willing to let go. He will give you the self control to say 'No' & resist the temptation!
Jesus is always gracious to help those who look up to Him in total surrender.
For God wants us to be holy in our body, soul & spirit at His coming.
So is working hard in cleansing us & He is faithful to help us...
1 Thessalonians 5:21-24," Test everything. Hold on to the good. 22 Avoid every kind of evil. 23May God himself, the God of peace, sanctify you through and through. May your whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. 24The one who calls you is faithful and he will do it."
12 techniques
1.Then..Get ready to start'
Set a quit date.

  • Change your environment.
    1. Get rid of ALL cigarettes and ashtrays in your home, car, and place of work.
  • Don't let people smoke in your home.
  • Review your past attempts to quit. Think about what worked and what did not.
    2. Deep Breathing.
This has helped many is a positive way.
Every time you want a cigarette, do the following. Do it three times.

Inhale the deepest lung-full of air you can, and then, very slowly, exhale. Purse your lips so that the air must come out slowly. As you exhale, close your eyes, and let your chin gradually sink over onto your chest.
    3. Taking In Fluids: The first few days, drink LOTS of water and fluids to help flush out the nicotine and other poisons from your body.

  • 4.  Stay Away From Alcohol, Sugar And Coffee: Do your very best to stay away from alcohol. Also avoid sugar and coffee the first week or longer, as these tend to stimulate the desire for a cigarette. Avoid fatty foods, as your metabolism will slow down a bit without the nicotine, and you may gain weight even if you eat the same amount as before quitting. So discipline about diet is extra important now. No one ever said acquiring new habits would be easy!
Nibble on low calorie foods like celery, apples and carrots. Chew gum or suck on cinnamon sticks.
Stretch out your meals; eat slowly and wait a bit between bites.
After dinner, instead of a cigarette, treat yourself to a cup of mint tea or a peppermint candy.
  • When you first try to quit, change your routine. Use a different route to work. Drink tea instead of coffee. Eat breakfast in a different place.
  • Do something to reduce your stress. Take a hot bath, exercise, or read a book.
  • Plan something enjoyable to do every day.
  • Remember that the urge to smoke only lasts a few minutes, and will then pass. The urges gradually become farther and farther apart as the days go by.
    5. Taking An Oral Substitute One can use cinnamon sticks, chewing gum or artificial cigarettes as a substitute. You will mostly find that after the first week of being a non smoker, you wouldn’t even need these.
    6. Get to Exercising & do something that will take your mind off cigarettes.Go to a gym, sit in the steam, exercise.
Change your normal routine – take time to walk or even jog around the block or in the local park.
    Learn New Skills and Behaviors
    • Try to distract yourself from urges to smoke. Talk to someone, go for a walk, or get busy with a task.
  • 7. Ask For Support Ask for support from your pastor, church, co-workers, friends and family members. Ask for their tolerance. Let them know you're quitting, and that you might be edgy or grumpy for a few days. If you don't ask for support, you certainly won't get any. If you do, you'll be surprised how much it can help. Take a chance - try it and see!
Ask friends not to smoke in your presence. Don't be afraid to ask. This is more important than you may realize.

    8. Destroy All Your Cigarettes
On your quit day, hide all ashtrays and destroy all your cigarettes, preferably with water, so no part of them is smokeable.
    9. Affirm Yourself
    10. Holding Out Here is perhaps the most valuable information among these points. In Phase 2, the period which begins a few weeks after quitting, the urges to smoke will subside considerably. However, it's vital to understand that from time to time, you will still be suddenly overwhelmed with a desire for "just one cigarette." This will happen unexpectedly, during moments of stress, whether negative stress or positive (at a party, or on vacation). If you are unprepared to resist, succumbing to that "one cigarette" will lead you directly back to smoking.
    Remember the following secret:
  • in these surprise attacks during Phase 2 - and they will definitely come - Pray, seek God's help & do your deep breathing, for five minutes, and the urge will pass.

  • Several times a day, quietly repeat to yourself the affirmation, "I am a nonsmoker." Many quitters see themselves as smokers who are just not smoking for the moment. They have a self-image as smokers who still want a cigarette.

Silently repeating the affirmation "I am a nonsmoker" will help you change your view of yourself, and, even if it may seem silly to you, this is actually useful.
  • Use it!

  • May be you don't smoke but know of a loved one or friend that does...
You can start praying for that person!

Isaiah 62:6-7."  6 I have posted watchmen on your walls, O Jerusalem;  they will never be silent day or night. You who call on the LORD,  give yourselves no rest,     7 and give him no rest till he establishes Jerusalem and makes her the praise of the earth.

And don't stop praying till you see God move. You don't quit praying & they'll quit smoking!!Isn't that comforting??
It's sad to see men & women struggle in this area. There are some fellow brothers & sisters you know who are trying hard to overcome this habit.
I am going to pray for a dear friend & I know God will move.
Have you struggled long?? Tell JESUS, He will set you free.

Ephesians 5:1, 8-10, 15"1Be imitators of God, therefore, as dearly loved children.   8For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light 9(for the fruit of the light consists in all goodness, righteousness and truth) 10and find out what pleases the Lord. 15Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise,"So yield to the Spirit & walk in the Spirit & not yield to the flesh...God will Help you. Jesus Himself is your help and soon victory will be yours!

    Be Blessed,

    Sympathy

The death of a loved one is really painful to see..
But those who die in CHRISt have the blessed hope of eternal life..
They just sleep here to wake up in the Heavenly Father's presence.
We can bring comfort to people who have lost their loved ones...by showing we care & sympathise with them & pray for them. Sometimes all they need is our presence with them!!
